Automation Test Manager
About The Role
Purpose:
Provide managemenet and leadership of 7IM Automation Test Chapter through provision of a robust, people and delivery centric approach. Provide input, help shape and implement Test Chapter wide strategy spanning Manual, Automation and Performance testing. Provide informed test guidance, support and delivery throughout the lifecycle of our cloud solutions, with a ‘shift-left’ approach. Work closely with Chapter Leads and on occassion, the Transformation Leadership Team, to continually improve the mechanisms / processes for quality assurance, throughout the Agile System Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Helping to support overall delivery of the test automation agenda as 7IM drive towards a Quality Engineering culture.
Responsibilities:
•
Maintain a resourced, skilled, and motivated team capable of delivering automated testing over software solutions across a broad technology stack.
•
Create and maintain the optimal team structure within Automated testing, in-line with business priorities.
•
Collaborate with discipline Leads to define a clear roadmap for the Automated testing, that also underpins the overarching Test Chapter strategies for Manual and Performance.
•
Set clear and measurable objectives across Automation Test roles, to support the delivery of the Test Chapter and ultimately, business objectives.
•
Contribute to determining team metrics and KPIs to track team and Chapter performance against objectives.
•
Work closely with the Chapter Leadership Team members and key stakeholders to enable increases in velocity across Squads while maintaining the quality of technical solutions and processes.
•
Support the Head of Testing & Quality Assurance with implementation of cross-department strategic enablers and realisation of strategic goals.
•
Sponsor internal initiatives to facilitate a strong culture of continuous improvement and high team morale.
•
Contribute to and drive forward efficiencies through AI adoption.
•
Create and / or support delivery of opportunities to improve flow metrics (primarily velocity & predictability), as well as quality across the Transformation Directorate.
•
Identify Test Chapter risks and key person dependencies, log and take necessary mitigation action.
•
Create and maintain a constructive feedback loop involving analytical, development and test teams to improve quality.
•
Embed a learning culture by supporting and / or performing root cause analyses on issues experienced during the Agile SDLC or in production and supporting in the implementation of mitigation.
•
Create strong balance of management responsibility alongside the support and delivery of Squad work by undertaking standard test activities , i.e., analysis, prep, execution, and defect management.
•
Ensure individual delivery capacity is considered and factored into quarterly and sprint level planning.
•
Create opportunities to increase efficiency, consistency, and value of testing; once created these opportunities should be driven forward in the most autonomous way possible.
•
Driving a BDD and / or TDD culture among peers, within the software development lifecycle. Acting consistently in accordance with 7IM’s VPVPs.
•
Other, as reasonably required by your line manager and 7IM.
About You

Data Automation Skills / Tools:
•
Strong hands on experience in Databricks and its features.
•
Pytest / Pyspark.
•
Ability to design Data quality reports using Power BI.
•
Proficient in Python and SQL (complex queries).
•
Deep understanding of Lakehouse and Azure ADF Pipelines.
•
Familiarity with API test tools e.g., Postman / ReadyAPI.
•
Familiarity CI/CD Pipelines (desirable).
Knowledge:
•
In-depth knowledge of the delivery lifecycle.
•
Industry standard Data Quality best practise techniques.
•
ISTQB industry best practise techniques.
•
Asset Management industry knowledge.
Qualifications:
•
ISEB / ISTQB Foundation
•
Further ISEB / ISTQB qualifications are advantageous.
•
Minimum of 5 years’ experience
