About The Role

Purpose

We’re looking for an experienced Technical Paraplanner to join our Edinburgh office and play a pivotal role in shaping high-quality client advice across the 7IM Group. This isn’t just about drafting reports—it’s about becoming a trusted partner to advisers, mentoring colleagues, and delivering intelligent, client-focused solutions.

You’ll work at the heart of our financial planning team, helping craft bespoke strategies that span pensions, offshore bonds, Business Relief, EIS, VCTs and beyond. Alongside the technical work, you’ll be a go-to resource for the wider support team, providing guidance, training and expertise that raises the standard across the board.

The role is based in Edinburgh.

Responsibilities
  • Produce clear, insightful and technically robust advice reports across a wide spectrum of financial planning areas.
  • Carry out in-depth research and analysis on client products and investments, presenting findings in a way that adds real value.
  • Support financial planners in building cashflow models and bespoke investment proposals.
  • Ensure advice files are fully compliant and accurately maintained within our Practice Management System (Xplan).
  • Mentor and train Client Service Associates, Paraplanners and Graduates, actively sharing knowledge and best practice.
  • Keep ahead of FCA rules and regulatory changes, embedding compliance into daily practice.
  • Ensure the 7IM VPVPs (Vision, Purpose, Values and Personalities) are followed throughout your working practices.
  • Other duties, as reasonably required by the line manager

About You

We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with clear communication skills and a proactive approach. You’ll be detail-oriented, organised, and client-focused, with the confidence to work independently while juggling multiple priorities.

We would like to hear from you whether you see yourself as a career Paraplanner or have aspirations of becoming a Financial Adviser.

Skills
  • Minimum 2–3 years in a paraplanning role (or equivalent).
  • Strong financial services knowledge covering various advice areas
  • Skilled with research tools such as FE Analytics and cashflow modelling
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and ideally have experience of Xplan (or a similar Practice Management System).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications
  • Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (or equivalent) required. We would be open to applicants working towards qualification.
  • Support provided should you wish to work towards Level 6 and Chartered status.
